Raw hazelnuts, also known as filberts, are high in protein, healthy fats, dietary fiber, and other micronutrients.
Store in a sealed container in a dark, dry, cool place.
Eat these plain as a snack, or chop up and top oatmeal, cereal, yogurt. Grind up to make your own nut butter or pesto, or hazelnut chocolate spread. Hazelnuts can also be finely ground into hazelnut flour and used as gluten-free flour. Mix with other nuts, seeds, and dried fruit to make your own trail mix.
