Fresh whole pomegranates!  This fruit is most often used for its seeds and juice. Pomegranates look a bit like red apples, with a knob at the end and a thicker rind. They are categorized as berries, and contain juicy and sweet edible seeds, also called arils. Pomegranates have dietary fiber and high amounts of antioxidants such as vitamin C, K, folate, and potassium. Pomegranates are said to have three times the amount of antioxidants as green tea and red wine. They also have high amounts of nitrates, which is thought to improve athletic performance.

Ripening and Storage:

These are ripe and ready to eat as-is when you receive them. Store on the counter at room temperature for a few days. If not eating right away, store in the refrigerator. Pomegranates do not further ripen after they are picked. 


Suggested Uses:


Cut through the peel in sections or in half. Pull sections apart and remove the seeds from the white pith, or scoop out the seeds with a spoon. While the pith is edible, it is very bitter. Enjoy pomegranate seeds as-is, added to salads, yogurt, drinks, oatmeal, smoothie bowls, on top of avocado toast, and juiced.
