Hopa Banana
Hopa bananas tend to vary in size and shape but are generally a cylindrical shape with blunt curved ends. This variety is edible in both the green unripe and ripened yellow stages. There is a line of black seeds down the center of the flesh. When green, these bananas have a starchy and firm texture. When matured and yellow, Hopa bananas become softer and tender with a sweeter taste. Hopa Bananas are a great source of dietary fiber, potassium, Vitamins C, K and A, and other micronutrients.
**Please note, this is sold by the pound, not bundle. This banana is heavy and typically contains 1-2 pieces per pound.*
Ripening and Storage:
Store at room temperature for up to one week to fully ripen for fresh consumption. Can be frozen for up to 6 months.
Suggested Uses:
In their green, unripe stage, these bananas can be cooked to create a sweet and mild flavor with the consistency similar to a potato. As the fruit ripens, the peel turns golden yellow with dark spots. At this point, the Hopa banana can be eaten raw as you would with a regular banana.
