Devil's claw root is native to South Africa and is related to the sesame family. This root is fibrous and woody in appearance with a very mild aroma. It gets its name from its spiky hooks. Historically, devil's claw has been used to treat pain, liver and kidney problems, fever, and malaria. In the early 1900s in Europe, the dried roots were used to restore appetite, relieve heartburn, and reduce pain and inflammation. Today, devil's claw is used to fight inflammation or relieve arthritis pain, headache, and low back pain.
Store in a sealed container in a dark, dry, cool place.
